  1. Fountain Valley police helped stop the distribution of drugs in Orange County. Police seized a large amount of "drugs, guns, and cash" on Aug. 11 from a home in Orange, and arrested 30-year-old Orange resident Jonathan Jeffrey Rosslow at his home. Sgt. Robert Cortes said Rosslow was booked on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale and a weapons violation. Illegal drugs seized in the home included "ketamine, ecstasy, LSD, psilocybin and Adderall," with an estimated street value of more than $20,000, according to a news release. Rosslow's occupation was listed as a landscaper. (Los Angeles Times)
  2. Orange County had one case of monkeypox in June. Now there are 77. Dr. Sue Reddy said, "We’re not expecting it to be [like a] COVID outbreak, but at the same time it’s nice to be ahead of ourselves." For the first time, a community clinic in Tustin made the monkeypox vaccine more available to everyone. Ivan Munoz, who attended the Tustin event, said he read about the community clinic on a blog. Doctors said this virus is different from COVID-19 and can spread more easily through skin-to-skin contact. The virus symptoms are fever, chills, and a rash that can last up to a month. In California, 98 percent of those infected are men, "and more than one third are 25-34 years old." (NBC Southern California)
  3. Firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority helped deliver a healthy baby boy in Yorba Linda this weekend. The firefighters received a call and went to a Yorba Linda home on Friday "that ended up being the call of a lifetime." Firefighters on Engine 53 arrived at the home and "helped deliver a healthy baby boy named Cohen," they wrote in a recent Facebook post. You can read more about this story here: (Orange County Patch)
  4. A California company has recalled its bottled coffees and 87 other drink products, including Stumptown, Cafe Grumpy, Oatly and others. The recall over" botulism poisoning concerns" was for its drink products that include: "Cafe Grumpy Ready to Drink Cold Brew Coffee, some products of Organic Valley 1 percent low fat milk, some Kate Farms nutrition shakes, some cartons of PediaSure Harvest, some cartons of Ensure Harvest and other products were added to the list of recalled brands," according to Fresno company Lyons Magnus.
