1. There's no better day to enjoy your favorite taco or margarita than on Cinco de Mayo, which is on Thursday, May 5. O.C. restaurants are celebrating with low-price deals and food specials. Acapulco in Costa Mesa is celebrating with $3 tacos and festive margaritas. Bar Louie at The District in Tustin will have Cinco de Mayo specials including $3 off the Tostada Burger and $5 Cinco Ritas, and Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen in Brea and Irvine will celebrate with live Latin music and Mexican specialties including lobster tacos —just to name a few. 2. A fishing boat crew saved an endangered Guadalupe fur seal they found tangled in fishing nets. On Friday, fishing boat Capt. Chad Steffen spotted the struggling animal tangled in fishing netting and floating in kelp near San Onofre. The fishermen turned off the boat's engine and managed to get the entangled seal safely on board to carefully cut him free. Once free, the animal circled the boat a few times, "like he was saying thank you," said fisherman and Aliso Viejo resident Scott Allen. Everyone cheered when the animal was freed. (OC Register)
