Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

1. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies opened fire in a Walmart in Foothill Ranch Wednesday night. The shooting happened at 9:40 p.m. after deputies were called to the Walmart Supercenter in the 26500 block of Towne Centre Drive and confronted several suspects who were allegedly trying to return items they hadn't purchased. One suspect became “uncooperative” and produced a weapon, causing officers to open fire, sending the person to the hospital, the sheriff’s department said. 2. Ready OC wants all Orange County residents to be prepared in the new year for an unexpected emergency. 3. E-bikes have been banned from the popular San Clemente beach trail, but the ban didn't extend to inland trails. The decision came after a year of discussion about the electric bicycles that speed past pedestrians on narrow trails and sidewalks. A surge in e-bike accidents and injuries prompted police and city officials in Southern California to educate riders about motorized bikes that can reach speeds of 20 or 30 mph.
