Here are the top stories in Orange County today:

  1. Have you seen this dog? A frantic dog owner is urgently searching for his stolen dog and is pleading for the public's help. Keian Vahedy said his 5-year-old Maltese, Furley, was allegedly stolen after he dropped him off at Pawradise Grooming in Yorba Linda. Vahedy said he went to pick up his dog from the pet grooming salon and was told the 5 lb. dog had been stolen. An employee who only worked at the business for two days had taken the dog and never returned. Vahedy is offering a $5,000 reward with no questions asked. He said his dog is "the light of his life." Anyone with information can contact the Orange County Sheriff's Department. People can also reach out with tips on Instagram. Read the full story here: (KABC-TV)
  2. Several homeless encampments in San Juan Capistrano were visited by the Orange County Sheriff's Department Behavioral Health Bureau. They spoke with several people experiencing homelessness in flood control channels offering them resources provided by the Health Care Agency. The Behavioral Health Bureau said they are thankful for their partnership with Orange County Public Works and the Health Care Agency. On Facebook, the OCSD asked everyone to work together to "keep our community safe and clean." If you see homeless encampments or excessive amounts of trash and debris in Orange County flood control channels, the OCSD asked people to initiate a work order online at myoceservices.ocgov.com. 3. Will San Clemente soon have access to emergency health services? Residents ranked the quality of life in the Spanish village-by-the-sea at 95 percent, but health care only received a 54 percent rating in a recent survey. When Memorial Care hospital in San Clemente closed in 2016, anyone with a surfing, boating, or hiking injury had few nearby health care options. Eight out of 10 residents favored building some form of hospital within the city limits. Most supported using public funds to make it happen. In 2019, a health care group started looking at what it would take to reopen the 6-acre hospital, not for acute care, but as an ambulatory campus. San Clemente city officials are waiting on the development plans. You can read more about this story here: (OC Register)

Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They’re chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond “Dry January.” We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we’ve since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.

Enough of you took Betera up on their 15 percent discount on first orders for Patch Daily readers that they’ve extended the offer for another week. Use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — try Betera here.
