Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

  1. Orange County's Hottest Restaurant Group, Kei Concepts, is creating many of OC's busiest restaurants. Kei Concepts has several restaurants in a bustling plaza at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Edinger Avenue in Fountain Valley. At least five more projects are coming to Southern California including Italian fusion dining, a high-end coffeehouse, a line of seasonings, and a hot pot/dim sum combo. Chef/partner Viet Nguyen’s success comes from his connection to his Vietnamese roots and a flair for big flavors. (Eater LA)
  2. The Fullerton and Brea fire departments will split this summer after a decade of sharing a centralized fire chief and command staff to save money. Brea Mayor Cecilia Hupp said challenges with hiring under a shared command and uncertainty over Fullerton’s future in the partnership were the reasons for each community to staff their own fire department. Over the last few years Brea has been doing very well financially, she said, and the cost savings "were not as impactful as they once were." (Our Community Now)
  3. OC Parks announced the line-up for the return of their free Summer Concert Series. The summer concerts will take place in OC Parks throughout the county on Thursday nights, from Jun. 23 through Aug. 25. The outdoor concerts are free, parking is included, and the talent is family-friendly. Doors open at 5 p.m. (OCRegister)
