Here are the top stories in Orange County today:

  1. Irvine city leaders are considering new parking rules that make it easier for street sweepers to remove dirt and debris from Irvine streets. The law includes a possible $44 fine for cars parked on streets that are difficult for street sweepers to clean, city officials said. The change is being considered as posting temporary “no parking” signs for street cleaning wasn't that efficient or effective, city officials noted. Roads that could be impacted would be determined by the city’s Transportation Commission. You can read more about this story here: (OC Register)
  2. A shout out to juniors and seniors nominated for artistic excellence by arts teachers and private arts instructors for the 2022 Artist of the Year program. The 646 high school students were selected from 72 Orange County high schools and arts organizations. The categories included theater, dance, film, vocal music, instrumental music, computer-assisted visual arts and handcrafted visual arts. Semifinalists will be announced on April 24. You can read the full story here: (OC Register)
  3. If you ride horses, you may be interested to know there is a new horse trail in Temecula Valley Wine Country. The new trial that is designated for equestrian riders was created to replace riding along busy De Portola Road, a news release said. The critical horse trail improves safety and connects to other paths, said Lorraine Harrington, a board member with Temecula Valley Rural Lifestyles, Inc.
