  1. "Stop sending fire trucks on medical calls," an OC grand jury said in a recently released report. Almost 80 percent of all 911 calls to fire departments in Orange County are for medical services, the report found. The report revealed potential problems the way emergency services are sent out from the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), which Fullerton and other city fire departments are considering joining. Sending a 36,000 to 60,000-pound fire engine or aerial ladder truck down residential streets for medical calls is "dangerous" and "costly," the report noted. 2. DeLorean announced they will release the Alpha5, a sleek new electric car, in 2024. The Texas automaker said the new EV will be a "modern electric coupe." The brand founded by John DeLorean in 1975 went bankrupt in 1982. It's now called DeLorean Motors Reimagined LLC and is led by Joost de Vries, who joined the company in 2021. You can see the new Alpha5 and read the full story here: (OC Register)
  3. A shout out to Laguna Niguel residents Dennis Ghan and his wife. They have been receiving compliments on their new drought-proof yard with native California landscaping. The Ghans are among 100 residents who participated in the Moulton Niguel Water District "California Scape" rebate program. The new program teaches California residents how to drought-proof their yards, saving scarce water resources, and also saving homeowners money. Natively landscaped lawns provide homeowners with "a relaxing, serene, environmentally-friendly space" that is much less expensive to maintain than a water-draining green lawn.
