Here are the top stories today in Orange County:
- For the 50th day in a row, gas prices plummeted in Los Angeles and Orange County. What's causing the downward trend in prices? "Multiple factors" have caused the steady decline, officials said, including recession fears that caused oil prices to drop, and some Americans were driving less when gas prices were above $5 a gallon. Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis at the Oil Price Information Service, also credited the active release of emergency oil by the Biden Administration from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. (Vigour Times)
- A Brea man was charged for "impersonating a doctor" on Thursday. The charges included performing medical procedures on unsuspecting victims who thought he was a real doctor, the Orange County District Attorney's office reported. Elias Renteria Segoviano, 61, was arrested in July. The procedures he performed included Botox injections, lip and face fillers and thread-lift procedures. He is also accused of injecting people "with possibly counterfeit Botox fillers, anesthetics and other medical drugs," Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said. (Orange County Patch)
- Welcome to O.C., Sprouts Farmers Market! The organic grocer has signed the largest Orange County lease this year. The organic grocer will be moving into a 337,000-square-foot warehouse located on an industrial campus at 1829 East Orangethorpe Ave. in Fullerton, the Orange County Business Journal reported. The Phoenix-based grocer will stock the warehouse with organic spinach, rutabagas, kiwis and other produce. (The Real Deal)
