  1. Irvine is now the largest city in O.C. to choose 100 percent green energy. The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night for Irvine to receive its energy from 100 percent renewable sources. It was the last OC city to choose renewable energy rates. Huntington Beach and Buena Park also chose 100 percent renewable energy, while Fullerton decided on 70 percent. The Orange County Power Authority offered each city 100 percent, 70 percent, or 38 percent renewable energy. OCPA is the first to offer community choice energy (CCE).   2. An Orange County restaurant was named one of the 100 most romantic in the United States in the "100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America"Summit House in Fullerton. OpenTable compared restaurant reviews around the nation from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2021. Qualifying restaurants were sorted by how many reviews listed the restaurant as "romantic." Summit House was the only restaurant in Orange County to make the list. The Summit House is on 2000 E. Bastanchury Road in Fullerton.   3. A fast-moving brush fire above Emerald Bay closed schools and forced evacuations Thursday morning. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, evacuation orders were lifted for North Laguna Beach, Emerald Bay North and South, and Irvine Cove. No homes were damaged thanks to the heroic efforts of firefighters on the ground and non-stop overnight runs from water-dropping aircraft. County and state parks in the areas impacted by the fire remained closed. The fiery orange glow and smoke from the fire could be seen from Long Beach. The OC fire that started before dawn on a hillside above Emerald Bay homes has burned 145 acres. As of early Friday, containment was at 20 percent.
