Here are the top 4 stories today in Orange County:

  1. Bring your family to the O.C. Fair, which will have "nearly 100 concessions" and "some outrageous new foods." The fair opens at the O.C. Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa on Friday, July 15, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 14. (Subscription/OCRegister)
  2. A neighbor riding his bike in San Juan Capistrano at 12:21 a.m. was a hero on Tuesday when he saw a garage on fire and yelled, saving residents in the units above the garage. Firefighters knocked down the fire "in just 11 minutes," saving the homes. The cause of the fire was "related to charging electric bike batteries," firefighters said. No injuries were reported. (Orange County Fire Authority via Facebook)
  3. Orange County may have twice as many million-dollar ZIP codes since the pandemic began, but home sales fell 28 percent in those neighborhoods during the past 12 months. Home sales in “bargain” neighborhoods selling below $750,000, were also off 11 percent in the same period. The buying pace is cooling because of high prices "and sharply rising mortgage rates," experts say. (Subscription/OCRegister)
  4. Before you head out the door, check out Patch's daily traffic report from Los Angeles to San Diego. On Tuesday, July 5, the California Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving a pick-up truck that got stuck under a semi-truck at SR-91 East at Weir Canyon Road. (Orange County Patch)
