1. A shout out to Newport Beach for taking action to help scoop up trash and "forever" plastics before they make it to the ocean. Its the first city on the West Coast with plans to scoop trash headed toward Upper Newport Bay along the San Diego Creek and Santa Ana Delhi Channel from upstream communities. The "relatively low-tech, autonomous water wheel system" scoops trash headed toward Upper Newport Bay. The California Coastal Commission praise the city for its plan and called for city leaders to "do more "in their own communities" by passing laws against single-use plastics and litter from to-go meals.
