Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

1. With a pledge run on 100 percent clean energy, Poseidon Water signed a memorandum of understanding with the Orange County Power Authority on Tuesday. After more than two decades, the controversial desalination plant is coming to Huntington Beach with a zero-carbon footprint through the state’s carbon offset program. Orange County Power Authority board member and Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Mike Posey said, "being powered completely by renewable energy" would help the facility keep its commitment to Huntington Beach "to be good stewards of the environment." 2. Orange County has set a new record for marriages. On Tuesday, 2/22/22, Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen said his office issued a record-breaking 335 marriage licenses and performed 327 civil ceremonies. The earlier record was set on Valentine's Day 2014. Married couples had a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have 2/22/22 as their marriage day and anniversary. 3. If you need another reason to love ice cream, Handel’s will add its fifth ice cream shop in Orange County at The Market Place in Irvine on Thursday. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt will be opening on Thursday, Feb. 24. The popular frozen treat and ice-cream spot has been expanding throughout OC, including new locations in Newport Beach, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel and Rancho Santa Margarita.
