Here are the top stories in Orange County today:
- Discover more than 45 nature-themed mosaics in the "Inspired by Nature" Mosaic Exhibit at the Sherman Library & Gardens in Corona del Mar, from June 21 through Sept. 21. Walk through the gardens to find original mosaics by internationally renowned mosaicist Irina Charny. Executive Director Scott LaFleur said, "Mosaics are mesmerizing to look at. They have an exotic vibe that takes viewers on a faraway journey." The artist lives in Irvine, California with her husband Ben and her dog Ziggy. The ‘Inspired by Nature’ exhibit is free with garden admission. (Orange County Patch)
- Another North O.C. city has enacted a new ordinance to prohibit illegal street racing for public safety and to protect families and children. On Tuesday, the Buena Park city council voted unanimously to prohibit "participating in and watching street races," which could result in up to a $1,000 fine and a year in jail. Buena Park followed Anaheim, which recently had to enforce similar measures to keep people safe. California Highway Patrol reported responding to "more 25,000 calls" about illegal street racing in 2020: "a 16 percent increase from 2019." Councilman Connor Traut said the action was “incredibly necessary.” You can read more about this story here: (Voice of O.C.)
- Enjoy Greek food and lively entertainment at the Taste of Greece 42nd Annual Greek Festival at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine! The festival will be from June 24-26, at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, 4949 Alton Parkway, Irvine. Enjoy "freshly made traditional Greek dinners, appetizers (meze) and homemade pastries," with live Greek music playing traditional favorites.
