Orange County Firefighters Help Battle Santa Barbara County Fire

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County firefighters are among a handful of Southern California fire crews sent to battle a wildfire in the Los Padres National Forest.

Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority, the Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Beverly Hills, Culver City and Santa Monica fire departments, and a Los Angeles County firefighting helicopter assisted crews battling the Cave Fire in Santa Barbara County Monday evening.

The Orange County Fire Authority sent a strike team of five engines.

"These units have been sent as an 'immediate need' resource request to assist with structure defense," the OCFA said.

A strike team of firefighters from fire departments in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Culver City was also dispatched to the wildfire.

The Los Angeles Fire Department sent a strike team consisting of five engines and a battalion chief to assist at the Cave Fire, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

In addition to the Firehawk night water dropping helicopter, the Los Angeles County Fire Department sent two strike teams to help battle the flames, the department said.

The fire has grown to over 4,000 acres and was being pushed by high winds.
