IRVINE, CA — The investigation is continuing Sunday into a fatal traffic collision in the southbound lanes of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Irvine where a reportedly topless woman, seen running then lying down in lanes, was fatally struck by a vehicle.

A witness told the California Highway Patrol that at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, a shirtless woman wearing camouflage shorts attempted to run across southbound lanes, then back to the right shoulder just north of the Culver Boulevard exit.

Additional reports variously indicated she was running northbound in the southbound lanes, walking in middle lanes, and lying in a lane.
