Here are the top three stories in Orange County today:

  1. Does the food truck you are buying food and drinks from have a valid health permit? The OC Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division is warning residents and visitors to beware of foodborne illness, and asking the public not to consume food or beverages sold by street food vendors that do not have a valid health permit. To have a permit in Orange County, food truck and street vendors have to follow required hand washing, food storage, food handling, and health safety laws. They also have to pass health inspections. If you are tempted to pick up a sandwich or shake, and you are not sure if the street vendor has a valid permit, ask to see one. If you think you became ill after consuming food or beverages from a street food vendor, please call OCHCA at (714) 433-6418 or fillness@ochca.com. 2. The Emerald fire burning on a hillside above Emerald Bay, Irvine Cove and Laguna Beach was 90 percent contained Saturday night after burning 154 acres. Firefighters are hopeful it will be fully contained by mid-week. The fire broke out at 4:10 a.m. on Thursday and quickly spread -- coming close to homes, but no structures were damaged and no injuries had been reported, said Orange County Fire Authority Captain Steve Concialdi. Fire crews used drone technology to cool down hot spots overnight, he said. You can read the full story here: (OC Register)
  3. The city and the Anaheim Angels are battling state officials and local activists in court over what will happen to the Anaheim Angels baseball stadium. Team owner Arte Moreno announced he would purchase the city-owned baseball arena and surrounding land in December 2019 for $320 million, but state officials and local homeless activists are fighting over the deal. Moreno planned to buy the land, oversee development around the ballpark, and keep the Angels in Anaheim until 2050, but local homeless activists say there is no allowance for affordable housing in the prime real estate location. As everyone tries to sort our who-said-what-to-whom-and-when, baseball’s fourth-oldest stadium will have to wait for needed repairs, upgrades, or before a new stadium can be built.
