- What are the safest cities in Orange County? Mission Viejo ranked ninth place on SafeWise's seventh annual Safest Cities report. Mission Viejo has 95,453 residents with an average income of $114,688. Other Orange County cities that made the top 10 list this year include Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo! You can read the full story here: (Orange County Patch)
- When homes with panoramic views slid down a hillside in a Laguna Niguel neighborhood 24 years ago after heavy winter rains, no one imagined anyone would build again. But developer Barry Hon of Laguna Niguel Properties LLC has plans for new condominiums at the foot of the hill. Hon built the original Niguel Summit neighborhood, and knows the risk, but said improvements made since the landslide will prevent the disaster from happening again. Residents are worried that Hon’s development project will "destabilize the hill" and cause it to collapse again. Neighbors said they "don’t want to have to live with that kind of fear and uncertainty." (Good Word News)
- Way to go, Huntington Beach! Big improvements are coming to Huntington Beach's Oak View neighborhood thanks to a $5 million grant that Caltrans awarded to Huntington Beach. The funds will help clean up and improve the community by removing trash, creating thousands of jobs, and engaging the community to transform public spaces. The project is made possible through Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Clean California initiative, a $1.1 billion, multi-year clean-up effort. (Orange County Breeze)
