1. A shout out to 11-year-old Madison Taylor Baez from Yorba Linda. She surprised America's Got Talent judges by singing "Amazing Grace" from the audience, and the judges "simply couldn’t believe their ears," according to a recent press release. Simon Cowell invited her on stage, and her performance of 'Amazing Grace' earned her a Golden Buzzer by judge Howie Mandel, advancing her straight to the live shows. Way to go, Madison! (AGT)
2. A heat wave is coming to Southern California this weekend, but Orange County will be spared the worst of it, meteorologists said. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch through Sunday where some desert communities may see temperatures as high as 117 degrees. Temperatures in Inland Orange County are expected to "increase to 85 on Friday and 87 on Saturday," according to AccuWeather, while parts of Orange County will see temperatures "between 77 to 78 degrees through the weekend," they added. 3. When the summer heats up, many Californians are looking for a cool ice cream treat. If you're looking for the best ice cream shop in California, Yelp readers say it's Confetti Ice & Custard in Costa Mesa. This family-run ice cream shop received the highest rating in the state. According to Yelp, Confetti has a rating of 4.5 stars out of nearly 1,600 reviews, with one customer giving the ice cream shop "5 stars for service and taste!" (FOX 11 Los Angeles)
