1. Wildfire crews are fighting to protect homes as the destructive Oak Fire burns out of control near Yosemite. Tinder-dry conditions fueled the wildfire Sunday, causing California’s biggest blaze of the year. Thousands of residents had to quickly flee remote mountain communities, as some 2,000 firefighters battled the blaze. On Sunday, the fire was zero percent contained. (Associated Press)
2. A shout out to the Dirk family of Newport Beach! The Newport Beach family owns the Paso Robles Pasolivo Olive Oil Company that has won five awards for its buttery olive oil. 3. Way to go, SoCal! Two truckloads of beagles rescued from a Virginia breeding facility arrived Saturday in Southern California. They are among 4,000 dogs that were destined for life in cages and testing labs who were rescued and freed from the breeding facility. Thanks to rescuers, they are now on "the first leg of a life-changing journey." They are in need of loving rescue homes.
