2024-2025 Pacifica School District 6th Grade Lottery

Students must reside within Pacifica School District boundaries on the day of the lottery to participate. Students must continue to reside within Pacifica School District boundaries when the school year begins, unless an interdistrict transfer agreement is approved by PSD and the district of residence.

Currently enrolled students will attend 6th grade at either Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School or one of the K-8 schools (Cabrillo School, Ocean Shore School or Vallemar School (TK-8)). In most cases, where your child will attend 6th grade is determined by where they are currently attending. Students completing the 5th grade at a PSD TK-5 school shall be guaranteed a space for the 6th grade at Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School. Students currently enrolled at Cabrillo School, Ocean Shore School or Vallemar School shall be guaranteed a space in that program through the 8th grade.

In November 2023, letters and transfer request forms were mailed to all current 5th graders in the district, and district residents on the waitlist but attending out of district, offering the opportunity to request a transfer.

Parents of 5th graders at a K-8 school who wish to transfer to Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School or another K-8 school for 6th grade must submit a Sixth Grade Request to Transfer form to the district office at 375 Reina Del Mar Avenue in Pacifica no later than 4:30 pm January 17, 2024. Parents of 5th graders at a TK-5 school who wish to transfer to a K-8 school for 6th grade must submit a Sixth Grade Request to Transfer form to the district office at 375 Reina Del Mar Avenue in Pacifica no later than 4:30 pm January 17, 2024. Current 5th grade waitlists do not roll over to 6th grade. Please make note of the ID number on the Sixth Grade Request to Transfer form as this number will be used during the lottery process.

If the number of requests for transfer exceeds the number of spaces available for any given site, a lottery for the available spaces will be held on January 19, 2024, at the Pacifica School District Office. Results will be posted near the front entrance of the District Office and on our website by 6:00 pm the same day of the lottery.

Parents are encouraged to attend our in-person tours. Tours are recommended, but not mandatory. Our tour schedule is available on our district’s website at www.pacificasd.org. Please contact each school directly to sign up for a tour.

Please note: Once a request to transfer is approved, the vacancy created by that transfer will be filled; therefore, transfer requests cannot be rescinded after 3:00 pm on January 19, 2024.
