Assemblymember Richard Bloom To Speak At PPCC Meeting Thursday

The meeting will also focus on efforts to stop people from parking dockless scooters so that they block sidewalks.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Assemblymember Richard Bloom will join Thursday evening's Pacific Palisades Community Council meeting to give an update on how his work affects the community. Bloom will also participate in a Q&A, giving attendees a chance to address the issues most important to them.

Bloom was just re-elected to represent California State Assembly District 50 for another two-year term. The assemblymember defeated Will Hess, earning 80.6% of the votes as of November 11.

PPCC Secretary Chris Spitz will also speak on the issue of dockless electric scooters in the Palisades. In a written update, Spitz referenced the problems caused by people parking the scooters on sidewalks and other heavily travelled areas.

Durrah Wagner, Field Deputy of Council District 11, asked residents to report improperly parked scooters to 311 in an effort to reduce the number of violations.

"Scooters are supposed to be parked in the 'furniture zone' of the sidewalk, which is the part immediately adjacent to the curb where you would often see things like parking meters, benches, and newspaper racks," she said. "They must be parked in a way that leaves minimum clearance for people in wheelchairs, pushing strollers, etc. Therefore we invite you as community members to report improperly parked scooters by calling 311, or using the myLA311 app or website."
