Getty Villa Staffers Test Positive For Coronavirus

Nine cases have been confirmed between the Getty Villa and nearby Getty Center.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — A number of workers at the Getty Villa and Getty Center have tested positive for coronavirus. Palisades News reported there were nine confirmed cases between the two locations, three of which were Getty Villa employees.

“We filed a report to the County, which is required of any workplace that has three cases reported among workers in a 14-day period," Lisa Lapin, Vice President of Communications at Getty, told Palisades News. "Our protocol is to do an immediate investigation and our own contact tracing. None of the individuals contracted COVID-19 in the workplace, and none had come to work with fevers. For privacy reasons, I cannot specify in what area these individuals work, but they do not work together.”

The majority of Getty staffers are tele-working and have not been on the campus. Still, some employees have been on site for groundskeeping and to maintain the collection.
