Grant To Cover Adoption Costs For LA's Homeless Kitties

Thanks to an ASPCA grant grant, you can adopt a vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped cat for free.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services announced Wednesday that it received a $200,000 grant to facilitate adoptions for homeless cats at its half-dozen service centers.

LA Animal Services said the ASPCA grant will allow it to waive a $25 adoption fee and provide 8,000 free cat adoptions, with all the felines vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped before going to their new homes.

While the adoption fees for adult cats are waived, kittens under four months old do not qualify but are only $50 to adopt, according to Animal Services.
