LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services announced Wednesday that it received a $200,000 grant to facilitate adoptions for homeless cats at its half-dozen service centers. LA Animal Services said the ASPCA grant will allow it to waive a $25 adoption fee and provide 8,000 free cat adoptions, with all the felines vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped before going to their new homes. While the adoption fees for adult cats are waived, kittens under four months old do not qualify but are only $50 to adopt, according to Animal Services. LA Animal Services said the grant is currently in effect, and the promotion will be offered until all funds have been used.
