CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — Cathedral City officials Wednesday announced details about a roadway construction project expected to last two months.

Beginning Monday, workers will be improving streets near Rio Vista Elementary school and parts of the Whitewater Neighborhood Area, including Shifting Sands Trail, Sky Blue Water Trail, 33rd Avenue, Avenida Quintana, and Ventura Drive.

The project also calls for constructing new ADA-compliant curb ramps along parts of Shifting Sands Trail and Sky Blue Water Trail.

Officials said some driveways could become temporarily inaccessible throughout the project, promising to post parking-related signs indicating work dates in specific areas.

City staff asked residents to avoid parking vehicles on the roadway, allowing water to run into the roadway or placing trash cans in the area. They also advised drivers to exercise caution while traveling through the area or use alternate routes if possible.
