2 Palm Springs Hotels Ranked Among World's Best In New Survey
Two luxury hotels designed by Steve Hermann landed in the top 10 after a survey of international readers of Condé Nast Traveler.
PALM SPRINGS, CA — Two Palm Springs hotels are among the best in the world, according to a survey of more than half a million people around the globe by Condé Nast Traveler.
The travel magazine tallied 575,048 votes for its 37th annual Readers' Choice Awards to chart the best places to stay in 2024, from a Ritz-Carlton in Doha to a 10-person bed and breakfast in Telluride, Colorado.
In Palm Springs, two luxury hotels cracked the top 10 — both created by celebrity designer and hotelier Steve Hermann.

Ranking third overall, Traveler lauded Hermann Bungalows for its stunning poolside views of the San Jacinto Mountains, tasteful design choices, and seamless integration with its older sibling and neighbor, L'Horizon Resort & Spa.
"Bungalow guests enter through L'Horizon's lobby to reach their own fully contained hotel, whose design inspiration is rooted in the mid-century-modernism architecture of Richard Neutra," Traveler writes. "Guests can stay in the privacy of the Hermann Bungalows or access all of the amenities of L'Horizon Resort, including its pool, the Spa, and the elegant SO.PA restaurant."

Placing seventh on the list is another Hermann project, the adults-only Colony Palms Hotel. Traveler praised the hotel's "luxuriously private" amenities and laid-back atmosphere, which the magazine said makes the Colony Palms feel "like the Beverly Hills Hotel meets the desert."
"Firepits and private nooks are sprinkled throughout the property, centered on a verdant, palm-tree-lined pool shimmering below the San Jacinto Mountains," Travler continues. "Bold statement wallpapering, sky-high ceilings, and plenty of greenery are the through lines across the room categories, with suites offering private verandas with garden seating,"
Elsewhere in California, readers crowned The Lodge at Bodega Bay on the Sonoma County coast as the best hotel in the world, which Traveler praised for its idyllic location, secluded beaches and attention to detail. Berkeley's castle-like Claremont Club & Spa placed 23rd in this year's awards, with Traveler calling the resort "a breath of respite from the land of tech giants."
