PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway remained closed Monday, according to tramway officials, with its two "tram cams" showing just static videos of the desert valley and the forest at the Long Valley landing as officials attempt to fix the problem.

The website describes the closure as being due to "technical issues," with no confirmed reopening date.

The closure was announced Friday due to unforeseen technical issues affecting the tramway's electronic system.

"We believe we have isolated the issue and are now awaiting delivery of the replacement part," Tramway Systems Vice President Chris Bartsch announced.

Tramway Systems Vice President Chris Bartsch expanded that statement, saying: "the replacement part has been located, but a shipment date has not yet been provided. The part is a motor contactor that supplies power from the tram drive to the tram motor."
