Aztecs Selected for CIF Division III State Tourney
The Palm Desert boys basketball team will play in the opening round of the CIF Division III State Championship.
The Palm Desert boys basketball season will be extended at least one game in the CIF Division III State Championship tournament, when they play at Cathedral Catholic High School in Del Mar on March 7.
, drew the No. 13 seed, as one of eight teams selected from the Southern Section to the 16-team side of the bracket for Southern California released Sunday.
The Aztecs thought their season ended unceremoniously in a 51-44 loss to Arroyo Grande in the CIF Division III-AAA semifinals.

"The kids are really excited about it. We haven't been in 10 years," head coach Don Brady told MyDesert.com.
This marks just the second time Palm Desert has advanced to the state tournament. In 2002, the Aztecs bowed out in the second round.
