Coroner IDs 24-Year-Old Desert Hot Springs Woman Killed In Indio Crash

INDIO, CA — A 24-year-old Desert Hot Springs woman was identified as the victim of a fatal weekend crash in Indio.

Melany Cunninghan Carbajal was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle rollover crash reported just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Street and Northgate Road.

Responding officers from the Indio Police Department found the victim ejected from her vehicle.

The northbound lanes of Jefferson Street between Northgate Road and Dunbar Drive were closed during the crash investigation, but reopened at 5:45 a.m. Saturday.

It's unclear whether storm conditions played a factor in the crash.
