Driver Killed In La Quinta Crash ID'd As Cathedral City Resident

The 27-year-old man died at the scene.

LA QUINTA, CA — A 27-year-old man was killed Saturday after crashing into a curb and two trees in La Quinta, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.

Deputies from the sheriff's Thermal station responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at 2:25 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Monroe Street and Airport Boulevard.

Responding deputies found a white Kia sedan upside down on the sidewalk, and the driver was found inside the vehicle but could not be reached by deputies.

An ambulance and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department personnel also responded to the crash, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the Kia was traveling southbound on Monroe Street when the driver allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign at Airport Boulevard, lost control, striking a curb and two trees and coming to a rest on its roof.

The victim was identified as David Seth Gonzales of Cathedral City.
