Expect Nighttime Delays On Monterey Avenue In Palm Desert
Nighttime closures on Monterey Avenue are scheduled to last for several weeks.

PALM DESERT, CA — Expect nighttime closures over the next several weeks on Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert, the Coachella Valley Water District announced Tuesday.
"CVWD’s nonpotable pipeline contractor, Weka Inc., has transitioned to night work and is expected to last two to three weeks," the agency reported.
As a result of the shift, construction hours will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with two southbound lanes closed on Monterey Avenue between Frank Sinatra and Country Club drives, according to CVWD. See detour map.

One lane remains closed during the daytime, the agency said.
The construction work is expanding the district's nonpotable water pipeline system "to maximize the use of recycled water instead of pumping groundwater for irrigation. This safeguards the Coachella Valley groundwater basin for future generations. In addition, it addresses long-term water management goals to maintain water reliability by increasing the supply of recycled water, source substitution, and water efficiency across all customer sectors," according to CVWD.
