Possible Gas Leak At High School In Indio Leaves 2 Hospitalized
Firefighters were sent to Shadow Hills High School for a possible natural gas leak Friday. Two people were hospitalized.

INDIO, CA — A hazardous materials team was sent to a high school in Indio for a suspected natural gas leak and two people were hospitalized with moderate symptoms.
Crews were called to Shadow Hills High School around 9 a.m. Friday, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. Firefighters searched for a leak in the school's cafeteria and tried to isolate it.
Two adults experienced moderate symptoms and were taken to a hospital by ambulance. A third person experienced minor symptoms, fire officials said.

The school was evacuated to the football field as a precaution. Southern California Gas Company was at the campus.
Shadow Hills and Desert Ridge Academy coordinated an early release for students, fire officials said.

"Riverside County Environmental Health & Riverside County Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials team is on scene and preparing to make entry into the cafeteria to locate and identify the source," fire officials tweeted.
