I-10 High Speed Chase Ends With Gunfire In Indio: Cops

A cross-county pursuit began early Wednesday in the San Bernardino area and ended on eastbound Interstate 10 near Dillon Road.

INDIO, CA —A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday after a shooting involving a California Highway Patrol officer on Interstate 10 in Indio.

Neither the officer nor the suspect was hit by gunfire, according to the CHP.

A multi-area pursuit began early Wednesday in the San Bernardino area and ended on eastbound Interstate 10 near Dillon Road, CHP spokesman David Torres told City News Service.

"At the termination of the pursuit there was an officer-involved shooting," Torres told CNS. "(There were) no injuries to either CHP or the suspect. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident."

The suspect was not immediately identified, and authorities did not disclose the reason for the pursuit.

Interstate 10 was closed at the State Route 86 split for an undetermined time, according to Torres.
