Man Shot Dead In Coachella

The shooting was reported just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Calle Limon and Genoa Street. The area is residential.

COACHELLA, CA — An investigation was continuing Monday into the apparent weekend shooting death of a 51-year-old Coachella man.

No arrests have been announced, but the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said "investigators are working to identify the suspect(s)" in the shooting that was reported just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Calle Limon and Genoa Street. The area is residential.

According to the law enforcement agency, deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station were called to the intersection regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Once at the scene, they found a victim, later identified as Enrique Arrieta, lying on the ground and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Despite efforts to save him, Arrieta was pronounced dead at the scene.
