Mecca Woman Dies After Crashing Her Truck Into Trailer

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be crash factors, according to the CHP.

MECCA, CA — A 58-year-old Mecca woman was killed Monday morning when she slammed her truck into the back of a flatbed trailer being towed by a Kubota tractor, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman, identified by the Riverside County coroner as Maria Moreno De Hernandez, was driving a white Ford Ranger pickup truck westbound on 70th Avenue, west of Garfield Street, in Mecca, just before 6 a.m.

As her truck approached the rear of the trailer, she slammed into it and died at the scene.

The tractor was being driven by a 21-year-old man from Mecca. He was uninjured, according to the CHP, which is investigating the incident.

No arrests were announced.
