More Details Released About Fatal Hit-And-Run That Killed Cyclist

Police are looking for a dark-colored Nissan Versa with major front-end damage and missing parts, according to a traffic investigator.

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — Authorities released additional information Friday about a hit-and-run driver who killed a cyclist in Cathedral City.

Officers received reports of the crash at the intersection of Ramon Road and Landau Boulevard around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to Cathedral City Police Department spokesperson Mark Robles.

The cyclist, a 31-year-old woman whose name was not released, was found unresponsive with severe injuries, Robles said. Cathedral City Fire Department personnel later arrived at the intersection and pronounced her dead.

The vehicle departed the scene before authorities arrived, according to Robles. Police are now looking for a dark-colored Nissan Versa with major front-end damage and missing parts, according to Traffic Investigator Albert Felix.

Officers on Friday were continuing to investigate leads to identify the driver.

Eastbound lanes of Ramon at Landau were closed for several hours during the investigation, but have since been reopened.
