Motorcycle Crash on 74 Prompts Emergency Response Including Helicopter Crew

A motorcyclist crashed Tuesday afternoon on Highway 74 south of Palm Desert, three Cal Fire engine crews and a Mercy Air helicopter crew responded.

A caller reported a male and a motorcycle down in the road near mile marker 87 at 4:35 p.m. Nov. 19, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Cal Fire crews responded to the solo motorcycle crash, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

"The patient will be transported to an area hospital via MERCY AIR ambulance with major injuries," Hendrickson said in an update at 5:19 p.m.

Agencies that responded included Cal Fire and Mercy Air.
