Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Coachella Valley

After the vehicle hit the individual, the driver attempted to provide aid and called the police.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — A pedestrian walking in a roadway was fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday in Desert Hot Springs.

Officers responded to a report of a collision with injuries around 12:17 a.m. Thursday in the area of Pierson Boulevard and Western Avenue, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

After the vehicle hit the individual, the driver attempted to provide aid and called the police. Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the roadway, and the driver cooperated with investigators.

The victim, whose identity was not revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Alcohol and driving actions do not appear to be factors in the collision," the department said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
