Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Mecca
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, but later died, according to the CHP.
MECCA, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Wednesday in Mecca.
Officers responded at around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday to a report that a gray Toyota Camry had struck a pedestrian, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Riverside County fire and sheriff's departments responded to the scene shortly afterward.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, but later died, according to the CHP. It was not immediately known if the victim died at the hospital or on the way there.

Lincoln Street between 64th Avenue and Hammond Road was briefly closed as crews responded to the scene, according to CHP incident reports. The road was reopened by 2:16 p.m.
