PHOTOS: Roger Federer Sets Up Indian Wells Finals Rematch with Djokovic

It will be No. 1 versus No. 2 in the men's final at Indian Wells as Roger Federer advanced on Saturday.

Roger Federer will look to capture his record fifth BNP Paribas Open title after defeating Milos Ranoic 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday.

Tennis fans will be treated to a rematch of last year’s Indian Wells final, when Federer lost to World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in a third set tiebreaker.

“After losing to him last year 7-6 in third I couldn’t wait for the moment to play him right here on center court,” Federer said.

Sunday’s final will also be the second consecutive tournament final to feature the No. 1 and No. 2 players. Federer recently won in Dubai topping Djokovic 6-3, 7-5.

“...to play Roger, it’s the ultimate final that right now I can have,” Djokovic said after his match. “Probably the player that is in the best form. You know, in the last 12 months he’s been playing some of his best tennis.”

”I think we are both happy playing each other. We are both playing very well, so this is a time to face off for both of us,” Federer said.

The Swiss broke the Canadian’s serve in back-to-back games to take control of the first set and then the match.

Federer served exceptionally well saving just a single break point to remain in charge.

”Yeah, he played well. He was neutralizing well on the serve, but especially during the points I felt like a few times I was able to stretch him,” Raonic said.

Earlier in the tournament, the Swiss became the first player to win 50 matches at Indian Wells.

Sunday’s final will be the 38th meeting between Federer and Djokovic, with Roger holding a 20-17 match advantage in their rivalry.
