VISTA, CA - With the FBI announcing they will investigate more of Hillary Clinton's emails to see whether they contained classified information Friday, Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Vista) called on the agency to get its investigation right.
"It's important that this time we get it right," Issa said in a statement. "As a representative of more than 42,000 Marines at Camp Pendleton many of whom handle classified information every day, it's critical that Clintons and other well-connected elites are held to the same standards they are."
In July, Comey concluded that Clinton had been "extremely careless" in operating an email account through a private server in her home on which she conducted State Department business. But Comey did not recommend any criminal charges be brought.
"This decision shows exactly why we need strong watchdogs in Congress to ensure thorough oversight of the executive branch," Issa said.
As a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, Issa says he will work with others on the committee to ensure the FBI completes its investigation thoroughly and impartially this time around.
