Road Closures Planned In Palm Desert For Construction Through August
The project will help the water district serve recycled water to more customers throughout the valley for outdoor irrigation.

PALM DESERT, CA — Construction has begun to install a non-potable water pipeline in Palm Desert at Cook Street, which will spur road closures regularly through August.
The construction will expand the Coachella Valley Water District's capacity to serve non-potable recycled water to residents for outdoor irrigation. The project is intended to save water by reducing groundwater pumping.
"It also addresses long-term water management goals by increasing the supply of recycled water to supplement local water supplies, safeguarding the local groundwater basin for future generations," the district said in a news release.

During construction hours, 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., both the northbound and southbound lanes on Cook Street will be reduced to a single lane. This lane reduction will initially occur between Sheryl Avenue and Hovley Lane East, impacting traffic in both directions.
Once work in that section is complete, crews will shift operations to the southbound lanes between Hovley Lane East and Riviera Drive, near the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort. Lane reductions will continue in this area, with only one lane open to traffic. Additionally, as construction progresses through each intersection on Cook Street, cross streets will be temporarily closed and traffic will be redirected.
