SA Recycling Hosts Mulch and Compost Giveaway

From Cord Media: In recognition of International Compost Awareness Week, SA Recycling will host a compost and mulch giveaway on Saturday, May 13, from 8 a.m. to noon at 29250 Rio Del Sol Road in Thousand Palms. In addition to offering organic materials free of charge, attendees will be educated on the environmental and cost-saving benefits of using compost and mulch.

Founded in 1995, International Compost Awareness Week (May 7-14) is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative in the compost industry. The program seeks to raise awareness about the advantages of using compost to improve or maintain high quality soil and protect the environment.

“Our primary goal is to increase compost and mulch use among Coachella Valley residents,” said Kurt E. Schoppe, General Manager of SA Recycling. “We hope that by hosting this free, community-wide event we can get people excited about using compost and mulch as a means of protecting our planet’s diminishing resources.”

SA Recycling’s compost facility converts a vast amount of recycled organic green waste into mulch and soil products for local farmers, landscape contractors and homeowners, while providing innovative solutions for organic waste in order to improve the community’s green footprint. In hopes of encouraging both individuals and organizations to celebrate composting on Saturday, all organic materials will be free. Participants are required to bring their own receptacles.
