Variety the Children's Charity of the Desert to Host Two-Day Radiothon
The radiothon, Care for Kids, will be held Nov. 1-2.

On November 1-2, Variety the Children’s Charity of the Desert is hosting the 21st Annual ‘Care for Kids’ Radiothon. The two-day event raises pledges to purchase bikes and helmets for deserving 4th grade Coachella Valley students.
The Radiothon will be broadcast live on KPLM The Big106 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pledge levels start at a $200 donation and go up to $5,000 and can be made by calling (760) 340-1061 during the Radiothon.

To help make 2016 a record-breaking year, early pledges can be made, starting October 21 by visiting the Variety the Children’s Charity of the Desert website.
Area schools nominate students based on their need as well as those who have shown good citizenship, exceptional effort, sportsmanship and respect for self, family, teachers and community. Students who are selected will be presented with their bikes and helmets in early December 2016, at Palm Springs Motors.

“This is such a worth-while event and means so much to the children that receive the bikes and helmets,” Michael Mathews, Board President of Variety the Children’s Charity of the Desert. “We rely on the tremendous generosity of the community to make this event successful and they come through every year. We encourage you to donate, as every little bit helps!”
Last year over $60,000 was raised to purchase 340 bikes and 340 helmets. Since the inception of the program, over 5,000 bikes have been given to Coachella Valley children.
Variety The Children’s Charity is also seeking additional volunteers to help answer telephone calls during the Radiothon. To volunteer, call (760) 773-9800.
