Wind Advisory: Blowing Dust Causes Road Closure On N. Gene Autry Trail

A Wind Advisory is in place in Palm Desert, Palm Springs until Friday. Blowing dust caused a closure near I-10, on N. Gene Autry Trail.

PALM SPRINGS, CA—Drivers heading near the I-10 and N. Gene Autry Trail/Palm Drive exit should be advised that the roadway was temporarily closed Thursday morning.

N. Gene Autry Trail, south of I-10, through the wash from Salvia Road to Via Escuela was closed for an unknown length of time due to poor visibility from blowing sand, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Much of Coachella Valley remains under a wind advisory through Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

West winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts up to 65 mph, were expected across Riverside County's mountains and deserts.

"Winds each day will be strongest in the afternoon and evening, the NWS said. In Palm Springs, that amounted to the closed roadway.
