Palm Springs is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Palm Springs has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Palm Canyon Drive is home to the desert’s very own Walk of Stars. Over 450 stars line the drive with names of celebrities, humanitarians, military members and more.
- Famed singer Frank Sinatra is credited with putting Palm Springs “on the map” for the Hollywood famed. Ol’ Blue Eyes came to the desert to plant roots with a weekend home after signing a contract with MGM.
- The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the largest rotating tramway in the world. Travelers will experience a 2.5-mile long ride with views as far as the eye can see of Chino Canyon.
- With over 130 golf courses, the Palm Springs area has earned the nickname “Golf Capital of the World.” Golf enthusiasts who want to beat the heat should avoid June through September when temperatures can reach over 100 degrees.
- An architect’s dream, Palm Springs is home to over 2,000 mid-century modern architecture buildings. Homes with 1950s and 1960s aesthetics, like those in the 2022 film “Don’t Worry Darling,” can be seen throughout the desert showcasing the chic design of the time.
