4 South Bay Restaurants Awarded 'Top Honor' For Wine Programs

The awards by Wine Spectator, "the world's leading authority on wine," were announced in late June.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Look out, Temecula, there may soon be a new wine country around these SoCal parts.

Wine Spectator released their annual list honoring the best wine programs nationwide and around the globe, and this year, four South Bay restaurants were awarded in the "excellence" category.

Wine Spectator's restaurant awards were launched in 1981 and represent the world's only program exclusively focused on restaurant wine service, according to the publication.

This year, more than 3,800 eateries received high honors for excellence in their wine programs. Restaurants are awarded in three categories: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence and Grand Award.

“A wine list is a restaurant’s identity in print, and this year’s Wine Spectator Restaurant Award winners reflect both deep knowledge and a passion for discovery,” Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator, said in a statement. “I proudly present the 3,811 restaurants worldwide that earned a Restaurant Award this year—we raise a glass to all our winners.”
