The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department is investigating the death of a person whose body was discovered Friday.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — Police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found on the shore in Palos Verdes Estates Friday morning.
The body was found at about 8:45 a.m. below the cliff in the 2000 block of Paseo del Mar, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Saadullah Sheikh.
"Upon arrival, first responders determined that the individual was deceased," said Palos Verdes Estates Police Department Acting Sgt. Joe Marino. "The county coroner's office responded to the scene and is leading the investigation into the cause and manner of death. At his time, there is no evidence of foul play."

Shoreline death investigations are not entirely uncommon in Palos Verdes Estates. On Christmas morning, a human leg was found on the shore by a family taking a walk. Within a couple of days, more body parts were found on the shore. That case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and it is not connected to Friday's investigation, said Marino.
More often, it's the treacherous cliffs that prove deadly in Palos Verdes Estates.
In 2023, firefighters rescued a woman who fell 40 to 50 feet off a cliff in the area. The year before, four friends fell hundreds of feet, killing a 25-year-old man and critically injuring two women.
