Chamber Looks for Next King or Queen of the Hill

The campaigns spotlight and raise money for local nonprofits.

Palos Verdes residents hoping to be the next King or Queen of the Hill have until the end of August to apply before campaigning begins in September.

Campaigning candidates raise money for local nonprofits Sept. 5 through Nov. 17. The candidate who raises the most money will be declared "King of the Hill" or "Queen of the Hill" for one year and will represent their sponsoring nonprofit organization and the Peninsula community at local events, according to a Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce press release.

Candidates must live or work in Palos Verdes and be 21 or older. They also must be sponsored by one or more nonprofits who are members of the Chamber.

The sponsoring nonprofits will receive 80 percent of the candidate's net revenue, with 20 percent to be used by the Chamber for community service programs, scholarships and events, according to the press release.
