Dapplegray to Open Literacy Center This Weekend
The elementary school on Sunday will hold a reception and ribbon cutting ceremony for the center.

's Literacy Center, which features a library, computer lab, iPads and Kindles for students, is set to open this weekend.
A ribbon cutting ceremony and reception is scheduled for 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Rolling Hills Estates school, 3011 Palos Verdes Drive North. Major donors who contributed during the six-year capital campaign, which raised nearly $1 million for the project, will also be honored.
The school's "new hub for research, art and science" will also include an art room where students will participate in the 's “Art at Your Fingertips” program, according to a press release.

“Today’s students are learning in a digital age,” Principal Fred London said in a statement. “Technology is their primary language, and the Literacy Center offers them the opportunity to access information in an environment that fosters their quest for knowledge, as well as their need for experiential and collaborative learning."
The center will be used by the school's more than 650 students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
