Five Rescued of Boat Off Port of L.A. Lighthouse

Four people were rescue off the boat and one was was rescued on breakwater rocks.

SAN PEDRO, CA — Five people were rescued after a 25-foot boat struck the breakwater near the Port of Los Angeles lighthouse in San Pedro, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The distress called came in at around 9:30 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman David Ortiz said.

Four people were rescue off the boat and one was was rescued on breakwater rocks by 9:45 p.m., he said.

The occupants of the boat walked away with minor cuts and scrapes, according to Sgt. Danny Rodriguez of the Los Angeles Port Police.

The vessel is safe and tied up at a nearby dock as police investigate the damage at the scene, Rodriguez said.
